Before Pesach
Appliances such as ovens, stovetops, warming drawers, and similar equipment generally require kashering before Pesach. The kashering method depends on the appliance’s structure, material, and how it was used during the year.
Moving Into a New Home or Renta
Appliances left behind in a new home or rental usually require kashering if the previous usage or level of supervision is unknown. Even appliances that appear clean may still require halachic kashering.
After Non-Kosher Use
If an appliance was used to cook non-kosher food or for improper meat-dairy use involving heat, kashering may be required. The exact requirements depend on the appliance and the nature of the use.
Material and Usage Matter
Not all appliances can be kashered, and not all kashering methods are the same. Each appliance must be evaluated individually based on halachic principles.
